Geneva Griggs Barnes, age 87, a resident of the Irvine Nursing ; Rehabilitation Center passed away Saturday, September 6, at the Center following a long illness.She was born February 24, 1927 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Strauder and Esther Barnes Griggs.She worked as a homemaker, a cook at Estill Springs Elementary School and was a former employee of Loma's.She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church and the Red Hat Society at the Irvine Nursing ; Rehabilitation Center.She had lived in Estill County all of her life.She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses 'Bill' Barnes.She is survived by: 4 Daughters:Ruby Napier ; husband, Gary Stanton Shirley Arvin ; husband, Carl Richmond Becky Glover Denedin, FL Debbie Powell Irvine 1 Son:Danny 'Pete' Barnes Stanton 2 Sisters:Christine Tipton Ravenna Betty Embs Irvine 1 Brother:Johnny Griggs Ravenna 8 Grandchildren 12 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Samuel and Larence Griggs. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 11, 11 AM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Willard Estepp.Burial will be at the Gray Cemetery.Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Wednesday at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.
