Obituary for Vernon S. "Cotton" Tipton
Vernon Sherman 'Cotton' Tipton, age 88, of Autumn Court in Irvine passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the Compassionate Care Center following a short illness. He was born September 28, 1928 in Estill County and was the son of the late Clyde and Merrell Griggs Tipton. He was a retired iron worker and a member of the Local 70 Iron Workers Union. He attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County all his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Brinegar Tipton. He is survived by: 1 Daughter: Janetta Ashcraft ; husband, Roy Waco 2 Sons: S. Michael Tipton ; wife, Emma Irvine Paul Tipton Stanton 1 Sister: Maxine Sparks Mt. Sterling 9 Grandchildren 11 Great Grandchildren 7 Great-Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by 2 daughters; Linda Moses and Patricia Tipton, 3 brothers; James Tipton, Edward Tipton, Clyde Tipton, Jr. and 1 sister, Lucille Tipton. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 16, 11 AM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Sherl Thomas. Burial will be at the McIntosh Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Friday at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.
