Vadis Marie Abney, age 88, of Kirkland Avenue in Ravenna, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital following a short illness. She was born November 21, 1936, in Jackson County and was the daughter of the late Frank and Geneva Isaacs Durham. She was a Homemaker and attended the Turning Point Apostolic Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ova “Toad” Abney, and she is survived by:
1 son: Donnie Thacker - Madison Co.
1 step son: Ova Abney Jr. - Estill Co.
Son-in-law: Wayne Henry
Several grandchildren and great grandchildren
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Waveline Gabbard and Tina Henry, 1 son, Jimmy Thacker, 4 step sons, Ricky Abney, Bobby Abney, Bill Abney, and Scotty Abney, 3 sisters, Ruby Powell, Glanna Pearson, and Lucille Durham, and 1 brother, Bennie Durham.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 4, 11 AM, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Barnes officiating. Burial will be at the Crowe Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM.
