Ruth Thacker, age 83, of Dug Hill Road in Irvine, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026, in Nicholasville following a long illness. She was born July 30, 1942, in Estill County, and was the daughter of the late Ernest Fike and Rosie Belle Lynch Fike. She retired as a CNA from the Marcum and Wallace Hospital, and she was a member of the South Irvine Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Thacker, and she is survived by:
1 daughter: Pauline (Bill) Lively - Irvine
2 sons: Jim Thacker Jr. (Jim Griffin) - Frankfort
Ernie (Nena) Thacker - Nicholasville
5 grandchildren: Thomas (Jessica) Lively, Ashley Pauline Thacker, Lily Katherine (Morgan) Campbell, Sarah Elizabeth (Dustin) Abshear, and James Parker Thacker
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Christine Smyth, Ruby McMaine, Elizabeth Fike, and Geneva Fike, and 1 brother, Price Fike
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 23, 1 PM, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Thacker Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the South Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM.
