Robert “Doug” Canter Sr., age 87, of Barnes Mountain Road in Irvine, passed away May 13, 2026. He was born August 6, 1938, in Nicholasville, Kentucky, and he was the son of the late Leslie Canter and Isabelle Reese Canter. He was a United States Army Veteran, and he retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He lived his life as a Man of God. He is survived by:

1 foster son: Robert L. (Jeanna) Flynn
1 brother: David (Margie) Canter
4 grandchildren, 3 foster grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren
Numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, and 1 brother.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 17, 2 PM, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Hoover Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 to 2 PM.
