Mary Nell Mattox, age 78, of Reese Street in Irvine, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington following a long illness. She was born April 3, 1947, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Mable Rawlins Henry. She was a Homemaker and she had lived in Estill County for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence B. Mattox, and she is survived by:
1 son: Kevin Bryant - Estill Co.
1 stepdaughter: Angie Wright - Cynthiana
2 stepsons: Dwayne Mattox - Memphis, TN
Mark Mattox - Georgetown
2 sisters: Glenda June Arvin
Rebecca Pennington
3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 6 step grandchildren
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 1 son, Gregory Bryant, 3 sisters, Gloria Ann Williams, Rita Faye Tipton, and Viola Tipton, and 5 brothers, Joseph, Gilbert, Ronald Lee, Carl, and Billy Ray Henry.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made towards the funeral expenses.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 3, 1 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. William Owens officiating. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, from 11 AM to 1 PM.
