Laura Stone, age 94, a resident of The Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Center following a long illness. She was born September 8, 1929, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Hubert and Myrtle Bishop Murphy. She was a retired Carhartt, Inc. employee and a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. In her later years, she especially enjoyed playing Bingo at the Terrace. She had lived in Estill County most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Coulby Stone, and is survived by:

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 8 siblings: Beulah Murphy, Herbert Murphy, Earl Murphy, Marie Dixon, Earsel Kerby, Jeraldine Mansfield, Mary Nordmeyer, and Cecil Justin Murphy.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 5, 12 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Brooks officiating. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held on Friday from 11 AM to 12 PM.
