John Moreland, age 72, of Furnace Junction Road in Ravenna, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at his home. He was born June 4, 1953, in Estill County and was the son of the late John Harold Moreland and Katherine Puckett Moreland. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Most knew him as “Daddy John”. John enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Cooking, and the Kentucky Wildcats. He had lived in Estill County for most of his life. He is survived by:
1 daughter: Mary (Justin) Brenner - Madison Co.
1 brother: Randolph “Scooter” (Nannie) Moreland - Estill Co.
1 nephew: Jeff (Betsy) Moreland
2 nieces: Amanda King

3 great nephews: Michael (Grayson) Moreland, Blake Banks, and Wade Combs

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, David Moreland.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 3, 11 AM, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Hall, Bro. Calvin Spicer, and Bro. Goble Rogers officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 to 9 PM.
