John Henry Wasson, age 82, a resident of the Kenwood Health and Rehab Center in Richmond, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026, at his home following a long illness. He was born February 14, 1944, in Powell County, and was the son of the late Algin Wasson and Alice Mae Wright Wasson. He was a retired Oil Field Worker, and he had lived in Estill County all his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Marie Puckett Wasson, and he is survived by:
2 brothers: Oscar (Virginia) Wasson - Madison Co.
Algin (Loretta) Wasson Jr. - Madison Co.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Annie Delores Wasson, Beula Marie Wasson, Mary Edith Shuler, Allene Wasson, Josephine Wasson, and Sudie Maye Adams, and 2 brothers, Orvil Clay Wasson and Bert Wasson.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 13, 1 PM, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Wasson and Bro. Jeff Marcum officiating. Burial will be at the Crowe Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made towards the funeral expenses.
