Obituary for James E. "Tuffy" Benton
James E. 'Tuffy' Benton, age 88, of Richmond Road in Irvine, passed away Saturday, February 3rd, at his home, following a long illness. He was born July 25, 1929, in Estill County, a son of the late Joe and Barsha Roberts Benton. He worked in the Signal Department with CSX Railroad and had lived in Estill County all his life. He was a member of the Williams Memorial Baptist Church, Friends of the Bluegrass, and the Estill County Golf Club. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was an avid University of Kentucky fan. He is survived by: 1 Daughter: Barbara Ann (Tony)McDole Bedford, KY Like a Son: Bill (Debbie)Lynch Estill Co. 3 Sisters: Bertha Jo Newton Madison Co. Bessie Gray Madison Co. Joyce Davis Indiana 3 Brothers: Ronnie Benton Estill Co. Donnie Benton Estill Co. Doug Benton Estill Co. 4 Grandchildren: Beth Campbell (Steve), Katlyn Haggard, Jeremiah McDole (Michelle), and Rachel Mahoney (Jon) 9 Great Grandchildren: Lindon, Levi, Benton, Anna Beth, Kyra Lee, Ronen, Jon, Jackson, and Haley Several Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by 2 Siblings: Midge Barnes and Milford Benton. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 1 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Chris Winkler with burial to follow in the Roberts Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Tuesday.
