James Cecil Witt, age 87, of Sulphur Wells Road in Irvine, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Baptist Health in Lexington following a long illness. He was born August 31, 1936, in Estill County and was the son of the late James Grant and Mabel Mastin Witt. He was retired from IBM and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. He was a board member of the Kentucky River Foothills and a charter member of the Estill County Lion’s Club. He had lived in Estill County most of his life. He is survived by:

5 grandchildren: Alison (Marshall) Gayheart, Morgan (Bernie) Adkins, Matthew (Caitlyn) Witt, Andrew (Mallory) Witt, and Austin Witt
1 great grandchild: Colton Neil
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Witt, and 1 great grandson, Blake Logan McMullen.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 3, 1 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Scott Rogers officiating. Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 AM to 1 PM.
