Jackie Robinson Humes, 70, of Richmond, Kentucky passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024 surrounded by family at UK Medical Center after a brief illness. Jackie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, David Humes; daughters, Kymberly Sparks Long (m. Joel Long) and Randeana Sparks Shiffler; stepdaughter, Christy Humes McMaine (m. Clint McMaine); grandchildren, Matthew Humes, Megan Sitter, Beau Humes (m. Paige Humes), Brooklyn Long Gay (m. Doug Gay), Hannah Bryant, Taylor Long, Riley Sitter, Chloe Sitter, and Abigail Bryant; and great-grandchildren McKinley Sitter, Jewel Green, and Dre’lyn Green. She is also survived by her sisters Linda Young (m. Dennie Young), Lavonda Knopp (m. Wayne Knopp), Sondra Calmes (m. Roy Calmes), and many nieces and nephews. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Aurlie Plowman Robinson.
Jackie was born May 28, 1953 in Irvine, Kentucky. She moved to Richmond, Kentucky with her family in 1994. She graduated from Kentucky College of Business in 1986 and was well-known to the local community through her career at WCBR Radio, Lowe’s and later retired from Affordable Dentures. Her kindness and generosity have impacted the lives of many. Jackie will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life memorial to honor Jackie will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Warren F. Toler Funeral Home located at 99 Cedar Grove Road, Irvine, KY 40336. Visitation will be at 3:00 PM with the service following at 4:00 PM.
