Helen Marie Newman Martin, age 77, of Flint Road in Waco, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington following a long illness. She was born January 22, 1949, in Lee County, and was the daughter of the late Claude Newman and Mary Elizabeth Bailey Newman. She was a Homemaker, and she attended the Ravenna Nazarene Church. She had lived in Waco for the last 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmer Phillip Martin, and she is survived by:

2 sons: James “Jay” Palmer - Madison Co.
Phillip Allen Palmer - Madison Co.
2 stepdaughters: Georgiana “Gina” Burnell - Madison Co.
Maudellen “Cissy” (Flemon) Lakes - Madison Co.
1 stepson: Phillip David (Kim) Martin - Madison Co.
1 sister: Martha Horn - Estill Co.
2 brothers: Johnny Newman - Estill Co.
Ronnie Newman - Laurel Co.
Sister-in-law: Claudia Clark
4 grandchildren: Leah Joy O’Donnell, Elijah Palmer, Jordan Palmer, and Dakota Martin

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 5, 1 PM, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 AM to 1 PM.
