Obituary for Helen Garrett Rhodes
Helen Garrett Rhodes, 83, the widow of W. Earl Rhodes, of Richmond, died Sunday, August 9th.She was born in Estill County on September 28th, 1931 to Hobert Garrett and Pearl Floyd Garrett.She was a retired employee of Philips Lighting Co., formerly Westinghouse, and also served as hostess for Cedar Village Restaurant in Irvine.She was a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond, but for many years was a member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church in Irvine. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Dean) Whitaker, sons, Harold Gene (Jennifer) Stevens, and Kenneth Lee (Joy) Stevens, step-daughters, Cathy (Mark) Whitaker, and Peggy Parks, grandchildren, Todd (Amy) Tipton, Amanda (Austin) Jolly, and Brittany Stevens, great granddaughter, Hope Tipton, sister-in-law, Mary Garrett, nephew, Bill (Sharon) Garrett, and many other extended family members. In addition to her husband, W. Earl Rhodes, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew L. Parks, her parents, Hobert Garrett and Pearl Floyd Garrett, her brother, Douglas L. Garrett, infant twin brothers, Harold Dean Garrett and Carroll Gene Garrett, granddaughter Cassandra Gray, and grandson, Steven Garrett Tipton. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 12th at 1 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Greg McClellan with burial to follow in West Irvine Cemetery.Friends may call between 5 and 8 PM Tuesday, August 11th, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.
