Obituary for Estine King

Estine Sparks King, cherished wife of Paul H. King, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024. “Tiny”, as she was known by all who loved her, was a native Estill Countian born to the late Eli and Clay T. Sparks on July 20, 1939. She was a hard worker, a farmer, and a skilled homemaker. Tiny could turn scraps of fabric into beautiful quilts and simple food from the garden into meals that were memorable for their good taste and quantity. She was tough but gentle and a firm believer in the teachings of the Holiness Church. She loved to laugh and cut up with friends. Every winter she spent weeks making her special black walnut fudge which she gifted to loved ones both far and near. She spoke her mind freely but treasured her people, and we can all agree there will never be another like her.

In addition to her parents, Estine was preceded in death by her brothers Odell Sparks, Earl Sparks, Donald Sparks, Raymond Sparks, Raleigh Sparks, Delbert (Ona Lee) Sparks, Michael Sparks, and Randall Sparks; her sisters Lydia McKinney, Hazel Noland, and Maxine Flynn.

Survivors include her husband, Paul H. King; two daughters, Pauletta King and Julie (Dwayne) Bolin; her brothers Eli Sparks Jr. and Phillip (Linda) Sparks; one grandson, Thomas Dwayne Bolin and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her family wishes to express gratitude to the staff at Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation for their care and kindness.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 26th at Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Bro. Sidney Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 25th at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home

Pallbearers will include her nephews Gary Sparks, Rodney Sparks, Jimmy Noland, and Danny Sparks; her son-in-law Dwayne Bolin and her grandson Thomas Bolin.

Honorary pallbearers include her brothers Eli and Phillip Sparks and her loving husband of sixty-three years, Paul.
