Obituary for Elizabeth Pigman
Elizabeth Pigman, 64, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 24, 2012, from her home in Irvine, Kentucky, after a long struggle with cancer.She was a very active member of Irvine First Baptist Church. Elizabeth was born on May 21, 1948, in Thornton, Kentucky.She is the daughter of Della Mae Marcum of Littleton, Colorado.She attended Whitesburg High School and Eastern Kentucky University, where she obtained a master's degree in library science.She recently retired from the Estill County school system, where she taught high school English.Elizabeth enjoyed her job and was dedicated to working with all of the students.She was a member of the Who's Who of American Teachers. Elizabeth travelled over the world, especially with her son, Jeremie, a concert pianist. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Craig Marcum; her maternal grandparents, Haz and Maggie Calhoun Bates. She is survived by her son, Jeremie Michael of Irvine, KY; mother Della Mae Marcum, a very special aunt, Carrie Bates of Whitesburg, KY; a sister Teddy Marcum of Littleton, Co.; a special 'sissy' Vicki Lowe of Norton, Va.; and her lovable cats, Miriam, Willie, and Yogi. The visitation will be Friday from 6 until 9 PM at Irvine First Baptist Church, 351 Broadway.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, at 1 PM at the Church by Bro. Chris Winkler.Burial will follow at Evans Cemetery in Campton, KY. Elizabeth will be missed by her family, friends, and co-workers.She was very blessed by receiving such unconditional love and support from her family, friends and church family. Elizabeth will be remembered for her professionalism, her generosity, and most of all her love for the Lord Jesus. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Elizabeth to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge at 1500 College Way, Lexington, KY 40502, or to the Irvine First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund.
