Claire L. Turpin Portwood, age 101, of Rice Station Road in Irvine, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24th, at her home following a long illness.She was born May 21, 1914, in Estill County, a daughter of the late James G. and Della Curtis Turpin.She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County all of her life.She was a member of the Rice Station Christian Church.She was preceded in death by her Husband, Tommie Portwood.She is survived by: 7 Daughters: Geraldine Conner Irvine Sue McEvoy Frankfort Ann Watson (Fred) Cincinnati Bettie Sparks (Kenyon) Waco Nettie McCreary (Gale) Waco Della Newton (Phillip) Irvine Joyce Stacy Richmond 1 Brother: Cecil Turpin Irvine 11 Grandchildren 10 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by 2 Children; Judy Portwood, Wayne Scott Portwood; 3 Sisters: Betty Witt, Lois Murphy, Lucille Webb; 2 Brothers: James Turpin, Harold Turpin;1 Grandson: David Todd Combs;3 Sons-in-Law: E.B. Conner, Joe McEvoy, Tony Stacy. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 11 AM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Kurt Scott with burial to follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
