Carolyn Clay Stepp, age 87, of South Winn Avenue in Irvine, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond following a long illness. She was born April 15, 1938, in Russell and was the daughter of the late Gardner and Stella Hambrick Thomas. She was a retired nurse and had worked at Dr. Jerry Brackett’s office for many years. She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of her life. She is survived by:

Marlene Webb - Irvine
4 brothers: Gardner Thomas, Jr. - Louisiana

Travis Thomas - Nicholasville
Tony Thomas - Irvine
5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Stepp, 1 sister, Thelma Cowan, and 4 brothers, Elmer Clyde Thomas, Charles Thomas, Wayne Thomas, and Tommy Thomas.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 19, 1 PM at the Providence Baptist Church with Bro. Brandt Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Turpin Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Church.
