Obituary for Buford Combs
Buford Combs, age 79, of Reges Road in Irvine passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012, at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard after a long illness.He was born October 26, 1932 in Estill County and was the son of the late Elbert and Eleanor Riddell Combs.He was a retired school bus driver with the Estill County School System where he had worked for 50 years. He received honors from the state of Kentucky and Estill County for his many years of service with no accidents. He was also an outstanding farmer, a retired Estill County Fair Board member, an Estill County Farm Bureau Director.He was an Estill County Hall of Fame Farmer and received the Kiwanis Farmer Award.He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County all of his life. He is survived by: His wife of 58 years:Gertrude Jenkins Combs 1 Son:Larry D. Combs ; wife, Tonda Kay Estill Co. 1 Brother:Don Combs ; wife, Shirley Richmond 1 Brother-in-law:Boyd Jenkins ; wife, Madonna Estill Co. 2 Nephews and 6 Nieces 3 Grandchildren: Patrick Montague ; wife,Jamie Amanda L. Combs Rhodus ; husband, B.J. Amber Combs Southworth ; husband, Brad 4 Great Grandchildren:Taylor R. Montague, Brooklyn N. Montague, Gracie L. Rhodus and Jaelen Clae Southworth He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Patty Rae Combs Montague and 1 sister, Ollie. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 25, 11 AM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Sherl Thomas and Bro. Delvin Reece.Burial will be at the Turpin Cemetery.Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Tuesday at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Plus.
