Brenda Joyce Samples Hardy Born February 15th, 1944, to the late Emza Howell and Oscar Samples passed away June 30, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Hospital.
After graduating from Estill County and Eastern Kentucky University, Brenda began her career with Kentucky Central Bank. In the fall of 1966, she began teaching business at Estill High, and immediately thereafter married the love of her life, Butch. After the birth of their daughter Michelle and son Michael, she and Butch together founded Hardy Oil Company, both still in their roles as President and Secretary for its entire 50 years. Brenda was a member of Rice Station Christian Church, where she played the organ and taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years H.T. “Butch” Hardy III. One daughter, Michelle (Greg) Osborne. One son, Michael (Anissa) Hardy. 6 grandchildren, Meredith (Tanner) Crowe, Madeline (Isaac) Napier, Marlowe Hardy, Berkley Hardy, Katelyn Osborne and Brandon Osborne. One brother, Charles Samples
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 3, 11 AM at the Rice Station Christian Church with Bro. Joe Hall officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 to 9 PM at the Church.
