Bertha F. Peters, age 85, wife of Willie E. Peters, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. She was born November 2, 1938, in Irvine to the late James Millard McGee and the late Bessie Noland McGee. She was a member of the South Irvine Christian Church. She was a retired employee of Carhartt Manufacturing in Irvine. She enjoyed her family and her Bluegrass Music family. She enjoyed bluegrass music festivals with her husband and friends, of which she had many.
In addition to her husband, Willie E. Peters, she is survived by 1 son, Earl J. Peters, 1 daughter, Melinda Gentry (Bobby), 3 grandchildren, Casey Gentry, Michelle Gentry (George Rogers), Stacy Peters (Amanda), 10 Great Grandchildren, 3 very special Great-Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 7 brothers, Gilbert, Esmer, Joe, Roy, James, Bruce, and Edgar McGee, and 4 sisters, Naomi Tribbey, Mayfrey Richmond, Dorothy Lainhart, and Shirley Taylor.
Bertha loved her family, and even while fighting cancer, she always had a smile on her face when she saw any of them. She was proud of the life and family her and Willie had created together.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 16, 2 PM, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Matthew Wampler officiating. Burial will be at the Roberts Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Casey Gentry, Stacy Peters, Devin Gentry, Wesley Sutton, Chris Puckett, Nathan Rose, and Kendall Vaughn.
Honorary pallbearers will be her Granddaughters.
