Arthur Wayne Witt, 56, of Irvine, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 17th, 2026, at UK Bluegrass Hospice Care after a long battle with cancer. He was born October 30th, 1969. He lived in Estill County all of his life. He attended Irvine First Church of God for much of his life and was also a faithful attendee of Ravenna Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estill and Pauline Witt, one brother, Glenn Thomas Witt, and two nephews, Gabriel Aaron Witt and Joshua Ray Witt. He is survived by two brothers, David Witt (Donna) of Irvine and Dale Witt (Betsy) of Bellbrook, OH. He is also survived by three stepchildren, Elizabeth Evans (Hunter), Nathan Luebke (Abby), and Brennon Luebke as well as four nieces, Erica Mitchell (Chris), Lindsey Trent (Logan), Suzanne Witt (Paul), Danielle Witt, and two nephews, Jamie Witt and Lucas Witt. He is also survived by five grandchildren and many great nieces and nephews.
His friends knew him as Arthur; his family knew him as Wayne. Only his mother called him Arthur Wayne. To many people he was their “cable guy” over the years. But anyone he encountered knew he was a “Gentle Giant”. He was an inquisitive person. He could engage in conversation with anyone because he cared deeply about people. He was not easily offended and showed an abundance of generosity.
He had a variety of interests. He was a proud Estill Engineer, as he showed us on the football field, and an EKU Colonel alumni and fan! He loved watching the Cats play basketball and would never turn down a good taco. He was an unlikely rocker. Over the years, road tripping to see the music of his favorite rock bands with his buddies brought him joy and soothed his soul!
He was a dedicated worker at Costco. He loved his job and all the people he was able to meet over the years there. His co-workers became his extended family.
His arrangements are provided by the dedicated staff of Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 20th, 2026, from 11 am - 1 pm. The funeral will follow at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will immediately follow at West Irvine Cemetery. Services will be performed by Brother Glenn Sizemore and Pastor Jason Barnett. Pallbearers will be David Witt, Greg Gross, Stephen Willis, Danny Todd, Jacob Tuttle, and Logan Trent.
