Anthony (Tony) Eugene White (74), devoted husband of nearly 54 years to Paula Hughes White, died on May 23rd, 2024 at his home in Berea, after a long illness. Tony was born in the community of Cedar Grove in Estill County on July 13, 1949, the son of the late Ernest Eugene and Bobby Jean Brandenburg White. He lived most of his life in Estill and Madison Counties. Tony was a US Army Veteran, having served his country in Korea and the US, and retiring from the Army Reserve as a First Sergeant. He also retired from the Lexington VA Health Care System where he served as a Laboratory Technician and Supervisor, and later as Patient Advocate. Tony was an Eagle Scout and lifelong Scout Leader. He was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and pastored churches in Rockcastle, Garrard, Madison, and Estill Counties.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sylvia Jane (White) Wilson. In addition to his wife, Paula, he is survived by his sons, Jason (Hillary) White, of Stafford Virginia, Joe (Laurie) White, of Berea, Kentucky, and daughter Nora (Toby) Lewin, of Felicity Ohio; six grandchildren, Aubrie Callisto, Emma Lewin, Hannah Lewin, Ainsley White, Elan White, and Andrew White, sister-of-the-heart, Susan Hawkins, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will Tuesday, May 28 from 12:00 to 2:00 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 125 West Cedar Grove Road, Irvine, Kentucky 40336 with a Celebration of Tony’s life beginning at 2:00 with Rev. Dr. Joe White officiating.
